Vikki Jackson, senior ecologist

Vikki is a certified Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) and has over seventeen years of ecological experience. She is the original principal of NES. She has a Masters of Science Degree with an emphasis on ecological processes and wetlands.

Vikki has performed wetland delineations, habitat reviews and shoreline assessments on over 10,000 acres in Whatcom, Skagit, Island, Snohomish and Island Counties. She has taught wetland botany and wetland ecology at Western Washington University and conducted public workshops on amphibian biology and identification. She is currently working on two research projects on Fairy Shrimp and Western Toads.

Michele Bodtke, senior ecologist

Michele has been working with wetland habitats for over seven years in the private and public sectors and has an extensive understanding of land use laws. She has a degree in geology and a certificate in wetland science and management.

Her private sector experience includes wetland delineations and mitigation planning for developers and small landowners. Recent projects include a shoreline inventory and characterization assessment for the City of Bellingham, wetland inventory review for the City of Blaine and a new elementary school project for the Bellingham School District.

In the public sector, Michele reviewed permit applications for compliance with local codes, including the Critical Areas Ordinance and Shoreline Management Master Program for Whatcom County, and Critical Areas Ordinances for the Cities of Bellingham and Lynden.

Analiese Burns, senior ecologist

Analiese Burns is a Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) with a degree in ecology and conservation. She is also a LEED® Accredited Professional knowledgeable in sustainable landscape design. Analiese has over seven years of experience in public speaking, facilitation, and project management.

Analiese has managed projects throughout Western Washington involving land use planning, environmental permitting, development applications, wetland delineations and critical area ordinance compliance and has performed construction monitoring for variety of construction projects. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) and is a member of the Whatcom County Development Standards Technical Advisory Committee.

Molly Porter, ecologist

Molly has worked with wetland and riparian habitats for over four years in the private, public and education sectors. She has a degree in environmental sciences and pursues ongoing education in wetland delineation and habitat restoration design.

Her private sector experience includes wetland delineations and mitigation planning for developers and small landowners. Her public sector experience involves aquatic and riparian habitat assessment, including a recent shoreline inventory and characterization assessment for the City of Bellingham. In the education sector, Molly worked as a field technician for a water quality study.

Clover Muters, ecologist

Clover has worked as an environmental consultant in the area of environmental education, community organizing and outreach. She has a degree in environmental science and an interest in international issues.

Clover’s experience includes projects involving wetland delineations and other critical areas, mitigation planning for developers and small landowners, and extensive mitigation project monitoring.
