NES worked closely with the Bellingham School District for several years looking for property for a new elementary school that would serve a growing population. The project included finding a school site and an off-site wetland mitigation parcel.
Northwest Ecosystem Services provided consultation on prospective building and mitigation sites, advising the client on the potential benefits, pitfalls and costs associated with different properties under consideration.
Once the site was chosen, NES delineated both sites determining wetland and stream boundaries. NES assisted with site design and development of a feasibility assessment. Based upon the project site design, NES designed both an on-site and five-acre off-site mitigation project. NES obtained environmental permits including CWA Section 404, CWA Section 401, and local Critical Areas authorization.
