NES has enjoyed the opportunity to work with the City Parks Department on numerous park projects that have ranged from development of new parks, park improvement/ expansion projects, trail extensions, and review for new property acquisitions.
Cordata Community Park is a 25-acre property that includes two active park areas, an extensive trail network, and protected open space containing numerous wetlands and East Bear Creek. NES worked with the project team to develop a plan that maximized site development while avoiding and reducing impacts to natural resources. Services included:

WHATCOM COUNTY • CAPITAL • LUMMINES provided comprehensive environmental services for a reservation wide broadband infrastructure project. Services included identification of wetlands, streams, floodplains, and protected wildlife habitats within the proposed grid. This baseline information was used to refine project plans to avoid and minimize impacts and support permit documentation.
Lummi Nation Broadband
NES has provided environmental permit support to WCC for numerous development projects throughout their campus. Projects have included new buildings to increase student capacity, along with the student housing facility on Cordata Parkway.
The WCC Student Housing is a phased project that will eventually include up to three residential buildings, one multipurpose building, parking, and associated amenities. All wetland impacts were mitigated onsite and NES continues to provide project support through mitigation monitoring.

SAN JUAN COUNTY • CAPITAL • SAN JUAN ISLANDSan Juan County Bailer Hill Road Improvements
To alleviate road flooding issues and provide stormwater treatment to a 1.3 mile stretch of Douglas Road, San Juan County Public Works contracted NES to provide comprehensive environmental permitting services. NES delineated wetlands and streams within the project area, prepared a compensatory mitigation plan, and local, state, and federal permit applications. The road re-alignment project was successfully constructed with all permits obtained on schedule and within budget.
